Pre-Training – August 27-30, 2007
The Community Resource Center provides a required pre-event training to nonprofit organization in the SLV. The goal of the pre-event training is to prepare nonprofit organizations to present their organizations to potential funders during the roundtable discussions on September 18th in an effective manner. Nonprofits will also gain a clear understanding of the fundraising process and Rural Philanthropy Days.
Pre-trainings are included in registration fee. Sessions have been scheduled in multiple areas on different days to be convenient for all of the SLV residents. You are welcome to attend any of these trainings at the location most convenient for you.
The morning session (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) entitled “Nuts and Bolts of RPD” is required.
Afternoon session (1:00 pm to 4:00 pm) entitled Nonprofit 101 – Tips for Success” is optional. Lunch is included.

Reception & Dinner – September 17th
Dinner in a relaxed setting will be the first opportunity for attendees to meet funders. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase the San Luis Valley products, culture and lifestyle.

Round Tables – September 18th
The pre-event training in August will prepare you to use this time to your best advantage. This is your opportunity to meet face to face with funders and government agencies to discuss funding opportunities and ideas. This is also the time to begin strengthening existing relationships or building new ones with funding agencies.
Grant seekers select organizations they wish to speak with, find a place at their table, and are allotted approximately 5 minutes to make their pitch to and gather information from prospective funders. Individuals may have an opportunity to meet with five funding agencies.

Post Training Event—October 18-19, 2007
Every attendee will have an opportunity to attend post training, which will address the dilemma of “okay, I have all of this information and have made contacts with funders –now what do I do? This 2-day training will provide hands-on walk through each grant writing step, including time to write a grant with some personal coaching.There is an additional fee of $75 for this two-day workshop. Lunch is included.
